Farm to School is a national movement sparked by the desire to bring better nutrition to American children. By sourcing fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, and other farm products, kids are receiving the fresh, nutrient dense food that they deserve! School districts that buy locally find that they help boost their community's economy, AND their budgets are met.
In partnership with leading Central Coast school districts, Farm to School is working toward streamlined ordering processes, field trips, nutrition education, and/or virtual events. School districts who are interested in learning more about the numerous benefits of Farm to School, follow below!
INTRODUCTION
On the Central Coast, healthy, rich agriculture provides school districts many choices for their kitchens. With San Luis Coastal Unified School District's leadership, participation from districts is ever increasing. Farm to School Central Coast is here to help! We work with districts to understand how to streamline purchasing and simplify ordering, delivery, and pricing complexities.
PAPERWORK
For each participating farmer, Farm to School Central Coast has available for you:
Vendor Response Sheet - gives an overview of the farm - contact information, where they can deliver, etc.
W9 - provided by each farmer so that they can be added as a vendor in your district's ordering system.
Food Safety Checklist- provided by each farmer so that schools understand what food safety practices they are implementing on their farm.
